Welcome to STARTALK-TECH

Are you a language educator who wants to know more about how technology can support your students’ language growth? Are you motivated to use more technology tools in your classroom but unsure of best practices? If so, join experts from Georgetown University for STARTALK-TECH, an online summer program for teachers of Arabic, Chinese, Korean, Persian, and Russian.

Program Information

----

This interactive online program focuses on the integration and use of technology-based instructional tools for language classrooms. Totaling 120 hours of professional development across a one-week summer program with extensive pre- and post-program training and support, the program will provide participants with opportunities to hear from experts in Second Language Acquisition (SLA) and technology-based learning, familiarize themselves with teaching tools, and develop lesson integrations for these tools, with personalized feedback provided by expert staff from Georgetown University and fellow participants.

Program Goals

----

The goal of the STARTALK-TECH program is to provide teachers with a dynamic and interactive online training experience that will equip them to understand and use technology tools in their classrooms by incorporating  approaches that are grounded in the principles of Second Language Acquisition (SLA). Teachers will first complete virtual pre-camp modules on foundations of SLA and educational technology. Then, the online summer program will provide a Teacher Learning Community via both independent and collaborative work. After the camp, teachers will receive ongoing feedback, support, and training.
